ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Rights Movement (PRM), the party founded on 10 January 2026 by Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, sets out its programme in a 17-point platform built around the slogan "Rights, Resistance, Reforms." According to PRM's founding documents, the platform translates that slogan into specific commitments on democracy, justice, freedoms, the economy and solidarity with oppressed people abroad.
PRM describes itself as a democratic, non-violent platform pursuing constitutional rights and civilian supremacy through what it calls a peaceful struggle. The party frames its work around a "Three R" agenda: Rights, defending the constitutional, human, social and economic rights of all citizens; Resistance, standing against injustice, oppression, corruption and abuse of power, always peacefully; and Reform, changing laws, institutions and society for what it calls a fair and dignified future. PRM says its resistance rests on "four corners," described as legal, democratic, non-violent and peaceful.
Democracy and the constitution
Several points speak to the party's core demand for democratic governance. PRM calls for "true democracy," civilian supremacy, and constitutional rights for all provinces, federating units and communities. It also seeks decentralised government with empowered local governments. At the party's launch, according to news coverage, Khan said PRM would adhere to the 1973 Constitution and described the current parliamentary system as "fake."
Justice and the rule of law
A second cluster of commitments addresses accountability and legal protections. The platform pledges a fight against corruption, the rights of all political prisoners, and protection from enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and military operations. It also calls for fair trial, due process, the rule of law and an independent judiciary.
Freedoms and rights of all citizens
PRM's manifesto lists freedom of speech, press and assembly, along with the rights of women, children and minorities. A further commitment asks the state to provide health, education, food, a clean environment, affordable housing and basic necessities to every citizen, the documents say, irrespective of sex, caste, creed, race or religion.
Economy and youth
On the economy, the platform calls for ease of doing business. It also sets out "three E's" for young people: Engagement, Employment and Education.
Global solidarity
The final group reflects the foreign-policy causes long associated with Khan. The platform expresses solidarity with oppressed people worldwide and calls for the repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, an end to what it terms the genocide in Gaza and a free Palestinian state under a One State Solution, and the freedom of Kashmir. Khan, who joined the Global Sumud Flotilla bound for Gaza, was detained by Israeli forces on 2 October 2025 and released on 7 October 2025, a release Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed.
The party's colours carry their own meanings, according to PRM: green for Pakistan and Islam, red for rights, resistance and revolution, blue for freedom and universality, and the white PRM lettering for the minorities of Pakistan.
